This is a great post, Barefoot-sama. I wish my parents would have said these things to me, but alas they're toxic and didn't know a good thing when they had it. I really hope this helps the troubled kids here and helps parents to realize that sometimes the things they say or do can hurt their children when they reject us. This is great to have around. I appreciate this post. Even if my parents didn't say many of these things to me, I can try to say these things to as many as I can, hell I already do that anyways.

So much better than “You know, you’re never going to be pretty, right?”.

Or “When I think about you like this (trans), you make me physically ill.”

This is so great. I try to pass on encouragement and love, especially to new and scared members.

I think most adults don't understand that a child has to treated very differently from an adult because their mind does not interpret things in the same way.

I won't even get a pet without first buying giant books about it and doing as much research as I can, I like to be as prepared as I possibly can from the beginning to meet all it's needs. So it always surprises me that some people are willing to just 'wing it' when it comes to something like a child. Especially in this age of information.
