If a man went into the woods, and lost his penis and ball sac in a baking accident, would he still be a man? If the answer is yes, then doesn't that mean the penis and ball sac is not what made him a man?

A man (or woman) is more than a sum of their parts. Manhood is part of a person's identity and that doesn't change even if something destroys his genitalia.

A trans man is a man even though he wasn't born with or may never have his own penis and testicles. Just as a trans woman is a woman even if she doesn't possess ovaries and a uterus. Our gender is deeper than our genitalia.

Thanks for the vote, BibiLife. I know I should recognize your avatar but I can't get past instead seeing it as Carla Gugino.

    To AudryLeigh:
That is more up to the witch than you, but if I had to guess, taking her beans would be a start.

    To Mike300:
RE: character and word of honour
I don't disagree at all, but I can't help in my mind think there is no difference of gender in those words.
I confess a guilty pleasure to really enjoying DC's Legends of Tomorrow when they say things like, "Woman the ship while we're gone." OR "Pussy Up!, don't whine about it."

Bornunderabadsign is to the point saying, "Our gender is deeper than our genitalia." which I know everyone realized that is what I was really saying, even if it was from an eye in the back of your head winking sort of way.

OMG as a transsexual guy, I SOO appreciate this! Like, I can not tell you how many times I was afraid of someone finding out I don't have the right plumbing downstairs ... It's been a small bout of dysphoria. But now I know that there is more than one way to be a man or a woman too.

I've had bad examples of male role models in my real life; narc father (did drugs when I was little, went to jail even once or twice because of it and his holier than thou attitude),my mother's ex boyfriend (ie: the one who sexually abused me for along time) my uncle(the one that was a mommy's boy lol who also was a con artist). Yeah some real winners... Hahaha not. Point is, there is good and bad of everyone. These were just bad Examples on how to be a man. Before I transitioned, after I told my narc mother that I had been sexually abused, I hated men for along time, actually it was more fear than hate. Eventually, I've come to realize, even discovering I was a guy trapped in the wrong body, I've come to learn that there are a lot of GOOD guys in this world too.

Some good guys in my life are, the guy who's my education coordinator (he's kind of like a dad to me), the various guys I've met on here (good groups of men here, very nice), the guys (both cis and trans) I've met at a trans support group. What I'm trying to say is I've had a lot more respect and appreciation for guys now, being one myself. A gentleman is someone who is kind, courageous, courteous, and gentle but firm. Gender is a social construct, society being obsessed with genitals for some reason ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ which everyone here knows that's bullshit.

Good men are men who are there for others, kind, and good to themselves and others, regardless of plumbing. It's a complicated things to discuss. I apologise if this is all over the place. Lots of good men, ladies, and non binary pals here. You say what your pronounz are, I will refer to you as such.

Society needs to not be so obsessed with genitalia,. Who cares lol?

The title of this thread reminded me of this song by Clay Aiken by the same name...
