So, I am wondering how many other Christians are out there in the lgbtq+ community. I've met one so far here, would love to meet more! The journey that I have made to get here as bisexual woman in the Christian faith has been a difficult one, but I just take one step at a time. I would love to here other Christian's stories of how they came to accepting who they are. Although I have come to terms with my sexuality, I'm still on that path of totally accepting myself. It isn't really easy when you still live with your parents at 19, and they have conservative beliefs. Although my dad has gotten better. I asked him if he would take me to a pride festival sometime, and he actually said yes. My sisters fortunately, 100% accept and love me for who I am, which I so grateful for. I actually got the courage to come out of the closet last night on FB, but I deleted it 40 minutes in, because of the fear of my mom getting angry. I ended up feeling guilty though not telling her about it, and when I did, yeah.... I didn't expect her response to be as strong as it did. I thought maybe she would be angry I didn't tell her first that I was posting it, or maybe she would think it too soon to post it, but no, she out right told me she didn't want me sharing any beliefs of mine that contradicted her own while I lived under her roof. Yeah... that struck me real hard. My sisters were there for me though, and stood up for me. They are younger than me. She ended up giving in this morning, and said I could post what I wanted, but only out of not wanting to argue about it anymore. I would love to move out, although I have Generalized Anxiety Disorder and Major Depression Disorder, and it isn't the best idea for me to live on my own because of the negative decisions I've made in the past.

Please accept this hug filled with hope.

You have a lot going on and I am sorry and know it does not get easy.

I am 63 and my father said I belong in hell.

I am not into religion but I have a strong connection to God and God's Love.

As for metal health, I have been in therapy for a year and I am doing so much better. I have had three weeks of no darkness. I never knew the peace could exist like this.

I walked out of my first therapist as it did not feel right.

I want to give you hope and want you believe in just how wonderful you are.

May you find the strength to be you and happy.

Peace of mind and soul - Jo

I'm a Christian. I too have struggled with my sexuality and faith. There are LGBT-affirming churches out there. You can search for them here:

It's nice to meet you! Yes, I actually used that earlier today, and it was very helpful. I actually am going to try a church out I found on there tomorrow.

Also Christian and it took time to accept both to be honest... I remember I wanted to be angry with God and Christ or blame at least the church and the priests but the truth is I love God and Christ and neither the church or a priest hurt me.
But as an older guy I will give you an advise, your family will love you the most not the people you see as friends at FB etc and you will understand it when you get older and older, I am not saying to lie or hide it but keep your personal stuff as personal and discuss them with the people you love and care.

    Catholic trans girl here...
For the longest time I used to be an LGBTQ-phobe who could not make any sense out their sexuality. I hoped that this would all pass at some point and I could be just a regular straight cis guy without all that baggage.
A couple of years ago I slowly started to research into how LGBTQ and Christianity could ever fit together, because inside I increasingly felt the way we treated those people to be fundamentally unfair and against God's commandment of love.
All that lead to me gradually accepting myself and now I can finally say:
I am a lesbian transgender woman who is loved by God and who hopefully can give at least some of that love to all those who feel rejection from people like who I used to be.

    ^ Same...

Bi Christian (non-denominational?) guy here :) . Haven't been able to come out to my parents yet though, only a few close friends.

I didn't accept my bisexuality until this time last year because of my beliefs.

Hi Blossom, I'm also a Christian and pansexual. It has been a journey, but one filled with love and faith. I know it is hard to live with parents whose beliefs conflict with your own, but remember you won't live with them forever.

    Hugs,
    BiBi

I was raised Catholic, and I guess I still am. My parents (along with the majority of people in my hometown) use their faith to justify their homophobia and transphobia- it's easy to say that messed me up for a while. I pray to God almost every day that I'm not doing something wrong or making some mistake because it's been hard for me to get away from that toxic mentality. You've got nothing but endless support here and lots of people who understand. :)  I'm glad that you have some family that supports you as well, that always helps.
